I tatted this back a week or so ago and was

to write up the pattern and share it so....
***I did my best to remember***
R 6-6 close ring, RW, then chain 4ds
slide a bugle bead onto a picot and hold with a paper clip
then 4ds then join to the picot on the ring.
Continue to the length you like
(this will get fiddly! Lots of paperclips hanging-22 on mine),
then on the first end R 6-6 close ring, RW,
then chain only 6ds and join to end of the ring(do this twice).
Then R 6-6 close ring, RW, then chain 4ds join to bugle bead
then 4ds-continue these rings, chains and joins to end
and finish with the same 2 rings and 2 chains as the other end,
hide thread ends.
Then add your findings to finish.
Wish I could do diagrams, but I haven't learned that yet! Some day!!!
Mine was tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Rainbow Splash with gold bugle beads.
As you can see I haven't made it to the store to get my
gold jump rings yet so I still need my findings before I can wear it.

I've always had trouble with bugle beads, often the end is sharp and cuts my thread. I will need to source some that don't do this. A gold clasp is all you need.
Hmmm...Bernice, I haven't had that trouble with the bugle beads yet, but that doesn't mean I won't. Thanks for making me aware of the possibility!! :)

It's lovely, I've had that in my todo list since you posted, so thanks for the pattern. I find difficult tatting with a lot of paper clips or safety pins, I prefer doing as you said just for the first bead, then I take off pin and bead and make a gauge (plastic or card) and use it for the rest of the pattern. Hugs.

So I don't use beads much - do you need to put them on as you go, or could you add them just before you join?

I pull the thread through the beads and put a paperclip on to hold them in place, but...Ninetta made this suggestion which should make things much, much easier!!!

I had 22 beads with paperclips hanging from a thing "row" of tatting which was fiddly and frustrating, but it's just the way it worked out since I was just experimenting. I love Ninetta's idea, but I haven't tried it. So you can do which ever works out best for you.
