I have the four tatted crosses for the ladies at church(been done for awhile, just waiting). And I just had to show off the bear my daughter just brought home for me from her trip to China with her college. They went for 2 weeks and she just got home last night. She is happy to be home. She said she looked for silk thread to buy for me(unknown to me), but she could not find any even at the silk factory-how strange! Either way, I love stuffed animals and this is my first Chinese one. :) Have a blessed Memorial Day Weekend everyone!

failed ice crystal

I think that heat might be an enemy of my tatting like television is. I think the heat melted my brain. But.....don't think I have given up! I really like the look of this pattern especially in the corsage colors so as soon as I can get some more I am going to do this again and better! :D
Here is where I stopped.

So pleased!

It has been too hot to do anything in our mobile home, so tatting was a productive activity. I was inspired when I first joined the 25 Motif Challenge by a tatted ornament done by Marty shown in this post.....
http://25motifchallenge.blogspot.com/2010/03/doilies-butterflies-hearts-and.html
It was a modified version of Ice Crystal from Tatting Patterns & Designs by Gun Blomqvist & Elwy Persson.
So, today I started this beautiful pattern in, what right now seems to be majorly awesome!, Yarnplayer's Corsage size 40. It looks so beautiful!!! I am praying that I don't mess it up(which means NO TV), and prayerfully I have enough thread or I will order more just so I can see it finished! This whole week is supposed to be warm so I think there will be plenty of tatting time. :)

failed at square motif

I will try this again because for some odd reason this pattern captures my attention. I had so many problems with it, but I am guessing it was due to scattered attention. At least I tried! :)

First Tatting book I own :D

Here's another splurge.... I have borrowing the books I have been using from the library and am planning on buying them, but for now borrowing is working since there isn't a huge demand and I have them for 3 weeks at a time and if I can renew them up to 6 weeks. But my husband allowed me to spend money since I can't find this one at the library and I have seen so many beautiful things done online from this book I felt I just had to get it.
The tatting project on it is not from the book. It is one I started in size 10 pastel, scrapped and restarted in LadyShuttleMaker's HDT Tulips size 20, and when it's done I will post it with details.
Have a blessed day all! :)

Motif #11 a tatted flower

I was just playing tonight when I should have been doing something constructive(hmmm...I think this is constructive :D )

This is actually part of an edging pattern. It's from The Tatter's Treasure Chest edited by Mary Carolyn Waldrep and it's listed under Lacy Enchantment No. 8880. The threads are green size 10, and a DMC cotton perle 5 no color name listed on it(it was like an embroidery thread). It was really different working with the colored thread since it's textured much different than the crochet cottons I have been using. I do like how it turned out considering I wasn't sure on some of the pattern. As for the colored part on the scan you can see a real strong separation of colors, but to my eye it's a soft blend and I didn't even realize the orange was that strong(it sure doesn't look it). I would have done more, but I needed to quit tonight since I wasn't doing what I should have been.

Necklace and surprises

Happy Saturday everyone!!!(can you tell I am in a good mood????) :D
I have the necklace completed and now my daughter has a matched set with the earrings(I was waiting for her to say she wanted a bracelet next, but she has said not this time-good cuz' the joins were frustrating me to pieces!)

Next......I got some surprises today. My mother-in-law is packing to move soon and when we stopped by she had some things for me. Look here....crafting ornaments to tat on and a beautiful heart shaped gold stand. I was stunned! And now I guess she will be expecting some tatted ornaments for her tree :D Oh well, something more to work on.

Well....I have the tatted part of my daughter's necklace she requested done. Tomorrow I will be searching for the chain for it.
May you all have a blessed weekend! :)

Motif #10

This morning I wanted to do something since it was storming around here and I didn't want the computer on during the storm, and then I lost signal on my tv....so the next best thing is to work on a project to keep busy. I made my daughter these cute earrings and she loves them!
She had wanted stars and I found a pattern that looked like stars, but this is the way they turned out and since she is happy-that is all that matters(she doesn't have pierced ears so she wears clips, but since there aren't too many she can find that she likes and since I have started tatting her collection is growing a bit). These are made from the Ten-flower Oval pattern in Tatting Patterns by Lyn Morton. They are done with size 10 thread with metallic like beads.

I tatted these in the last few days. The red and white cross was a pattern suggested by Paula C. It is the Basic Ring-Chain Cross Bookmark(with out the spiral chain and tassle) from Gina Butler. Mine is done in size 10 thread. The big one is again the Big Cross from Tatting Patterns & Designs by Gun Blomqvist & Elwy Persson.
Thank you Paula for the suggestion. The cross was simple enough to make and finish yesterday.
I scanned these, but the first time I couldn't see the white very well, so I placed the lavender paper in there to make them show up better.
Have a great day everyone! :)

Thank You Jane!

Jane suggested that I scan my tatting and I tried it and now you can see how beautiful these motifs came out. Thank you Jane so much for the advice! Have a great day everyone! :)

Motif #9

I love this Corsage color so much and wanted something more substantial to display it so I found this pattern called Snow Crystals Round Motif in The Tatter's Treasure Chest edited by Mary Carolyn Waldrep. Of course, again the camera won't focus well enough to show you just how beautiful it truly is, but I did my best.

And a couple of my butterflies in this beautiful color. But I haven't finished the antennas so they look kinda messy. :)

Crosses

I have the 2 rainbow crosses for my my mother-in-law and her friend done for Mother's Day. And the white one is my own messing around(not the best) for a lady at church. And the purple one needs the little string and clovers yet, and then 3 more(which I have 2 weeks to get done). These are the Big Crosses from Tatting Patterns & Designs from Gun Blomqvist and Elwy Persson. All done in size 10 threads.

Motif #8 Small Round Tatted Medallion No.8

I started this a week ago and just got back to finishing it. I have several joins I missed, but it seems to look ok anyway. This is from Tatting with Anne Orr. Yarnplayer's Corsage size 40.

Thanks for the comments all! :)

I have been trying to figure out how to reply to comments and how to get them to post on the page, but I am still very new to blogging so please bear with me, and if you have any tips or advice please feel free to share, I am not above learning. :)
Thanks so much for all the comments!
Have a blessed night! :) Sue

Just Tatting.....

I have been trying to get a few things done for Mother's Day and have been making slow progress(mostly due to errors). I have made this cross before and my mother-in-law loved it and had requested I make one for her, so I thought this would be a good Mother's Day gift, but I messed up bad on 2 starts(I am sure it was the tv distraction again), but the 3rd time it got done(no tv, but plenty of music and silence). This is the Big Cross from Tatting Patterns & Designs by Gun Blomqvist and Elwy Persson. I have made a slight change in the top, I left off a ring at the top of the cross and didn't do chains to the clovers, just threads(my preference). The threads are size 10. Now I have at least 5 more to make, but only 1 needed by Sunday. :)

Next...the exciting news is I now have more HDT! This time it's LadyShuttleMaker's Peach Pandorea, and Tulips. The most interesting part is that I have worked mostly with size 10 thread and with the other HDT from Yarnplayer I have size 30 and 40, and now from LadyShuttleMaker I have size 20 and most concerning size 80. But they are BEAUTIFUL! Thanks to both HDT artists! :)

Motif #7

I just finished tatting this Small Medallion #35 from Tatting with Anne Orr. I wanted something small and sweet to try out Yarnplayer's Corsage size 40. I love it. Of course, the picture doesn't do it justice, but it's sweet. My biggest problem was that I have only tatted with size 3(briefly) and size 10(regularly), so size 40 is a huge change for me. I love the colors and can't wait to figure out what to do next with it. Also, I have already decided what I am tatting with the Nectarine, and hopefully I will have it done soon. Have a great day all! :)

Motif #6 Tat Three Mat

I finally finished the Tat Three Mat by Rosemarie Peel. My husband just loves it! I am just glad that it's finally finished. It wasn't so bad doing the first 7 rounds, but the 8th round was a lot of work and thinking(not to mention...where I made the most mistakes, but how else will I learn if I don't try) :) Have a great day everyone! :)
