A Pink Cross

This is for another of our Sunday night
seniors.  She said her favorite color is
pink, so...size 40 Lizbeth Pink Blossoms
is used to tat Elaine P. Gan's Liberty Cross.
Have a wonderful tatting filled day!!! :)

Tatting for Pirates and Mermaids?? Yep!

Our daughter is a pirate.
 In a pirate crew.
 And....she is also a mermaid
They are a group of enthusiasts who enjoy pirate
historical lore and culture, fantasy and reenactments.
Mermaids, fairies, wizards, witches, gypsies and other
mythical creatures are part of the fantasy enactments.
They have sword fights, jousting tournaments, archery
competitions.  They attend several events a year and
from time to time they have a vending booth which
they have asked me to supply some tatted items for
this year.
So....our daughter is my adviser as to what to make.
We have started with mermaid bracelets.  I have
seen some pictures online which look like mermaid
scale bracelets and then sat down and guessed how to
make them.
Below I used size 10 Lizbeth Latte Foam and tatted
2 of the bracelet below.  I think it looks like sand.
I am considering finding a way to add a shell, or
starfish, or small sand dollar to some.
Next, I had this HDT(hand dyed thread) from
Dewdrops and Daydreams(no longer around) called
Easter Egg Hunt.  I don't usually use my HDT for
things like this, but our daughter really thought this
would be great for the mermaids, especially young
mermaids(kids join in too apparently).   Our older
granddaughter(who participates with her dad in
medieval fests) says I need to make some with beads.
And, next it was suggested to make some cuff bracelets
and I had size 3 Lizbeth Autumn Spice, and I started
one idea and ended up with this idea, which....
you can wear upside down or right side up depending
on your mood for a different look.  ;)
Well, I have more tatting for the pirates and mermaids,
and another 3-D Tatting Design project to work on,
so....I guess I will say, have a great tatting day!!! :)

My first 3-D tatted design

I was kind of freaked out when it was suggested that
we would design a 3-D project, but I took time to
think about it and then asked some friends for suggestions
since I don't want to tat the same thing everyone else has,
especially since there are some awesome 3-D tatted items
out there.
A friend suggested a heart, but I told her and showed her
the beautiful ones I have already seen and said that I could
not do that well.  She then suggested a teapot cuz' she loves
teapots.  So....I got busy.
The result below.  Not perfect, but cute.
Tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Lilac Dk., Fruit Fizz, and
Snow White.
For size comparison the below picture without the top,
handle and spout gives you an idea.
Most of it wasn't too bad, but the top flattened which
I hadn't planned, and the handle came out ok, but
the spout was a terrible thing to try and figure out.
If it hadn't been so tiny then figuring out a tube might
not have been so bad.  I ended up after trying 8 different
things, just tatting and then sewing it on.  ;)
 In my hand below.
I am making it a gift to the sweet lady who suggested
it.  Can't wait to see her face!!!
Have a wonderful tatting day!!! :)

Tatted Bracelet and lots of thread!!!

I saw a bracelet pattern on a google search and
decided to try it.  Link here:
It's tatted in size 10 Lizbeth Latte Foam with brown
beads(can't capture the colors well on camera!).
Now, I have to sew in the ends and add the clasp.
My daughter wants me to tat some cuff type bracelets
in larger threads for friends.
I also just received a thread order-33 balls!!!  All
size 40. Nine of the colors are new to me, but I am
looking forward to using the new colors with the
ones I already love!!! :)
I am also busy with a new Tatting Design Class
project.  Will show after the class sees!!  ;)
Have a wonderful day and hope you get some
tatting in!!!  :)

Lil' David's Snowflake

Still recovering from a cold.  Wanted to join Tollway
Tatters today, but even they had to cancel due to
weather concerns, so I decided to put on my tie-dye
shirt and tat and then post a picture to the group
facebook page.
I worked on Harolah's snowflake.  Link here:
I like it, but I  messed up right away on the center split rings
stitch count, and am wayyyy to lazy to undo them or
start over, so I pressed on and continued tatting.
I like it-it NEEDS blocking!!!
Tatted in size 20 Lizbeth Snow White. with
purple bugle beads, gold seed beads, and purple
seed beads(not quite the match I thought).
Hope you had a great day and got some tatting in!!

A partial answer to my guessing game 2 posts ago

So I tatted the Love on High on High Cross
by Elaine P. Gan with beads. This one is
tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Sea Island Citrus
with blue beads.
Next, I tatted the same cross in size 20
Lizbeth Coral Splash with yellow beads.
Of course, I still have to sew in ends on both, but
here they are side by side.
More to come.....this cold is keeping me from
getting much done especially in tatting-it affects
my brain.  ;)
Have a great tatting filled day!!! :)

Finished my first Online Tatting Design Class project

I got to show the class tonight, so...I get to show you
now.
I found this picture and wanted to tat a suncatcher
with a similar design.  Well....
It ended up becoming a 7 inch doily.
It's tatted in size 3(yes, 3!) Lizbeth Snow White.
It has Ninetta's Treble Tatting in 3 rows-the center,
the middle, and just before the final row.
There is some ruffling, but I am sure it will settle
down with I get around to blocking it properly.
For those who don't know about Ninetta's Treble Tatting,
it mimics crochet, here is a link:
Below is a close up of the edge with the Treble Tatting
which is just before the final chains.
Have a great day filled with tatting!!! :)
