Actually using thread!!!

The other night I was working on a few
more motifs for the tablecloth
 and noticed
how small the ball of thread looked,
well, I just had to show the size it
used to be, and the size it is now.
I guess that mean I have made some progress.  ;)
Oh, and they are actually the same color.  Either
way, the tablecloth will be dyed a darker color, but
I can get more thread this way cheaper than getting
good thread already the color I want.  It's a long project!!
Have a wonderful day with tatting!!! :)

It is fun seeing the amount of thread that is being used on a project. My absolute delight is using up a whole ball because I think I am reducing my stock! However then start to regret the fact that it has gone particularly if it is a colour I don't have any more off! So it becomes an excuse to buy some more!

Wow! You've really gone through a lot of thread! It's nice to have a visual.

I agree with all of you!! I knew it would take a lot of thread and that is why I bought the largest balls of thread I could find, but it seemed to take a very long time before that ball got smaller, although I do admit that it has been an on and off again project.

Wow! You've been a creative consumer :-)
How much does a ball weigh?

God's Kid said...

Thank you muskaan!!! :)
I am not sure how much it weighs, but here is a link which tells how many yards are on it(2730 yd), I bought these 8 years ago when I first started tatting and wanted enough white for snowflakes, but after working with Lizbeth threads I decided these balls would go for the tablecloth.

Funny thing about tatting - you don't really notice how much thread you are using until suddenly you notice the small size of the ball you've been using to fill the shuttles. It's always a surprise for me when I realize how much thread I've been using. Looks like you've started with gigantic balls of thread, so the difference in size is even MORE dramatic. Keep on going on the tablecloth. It looks wonderful.

An Anchor ball of thread weighs 20 gms, but I don't know the yardage. In any case, this looks way way larger! Thanks :-)

Thank you for the information muskaan!! :) I don't pay attention to weights, but I do pay attention to price. ;)
