2016 25 Motif Challenge # 3 Broomstick Lace Tatted Cross & Long Picot Cross.

Quite some time ago I wanted to tat a Broomstick Lace Cross,
well....first attempt....interesting, but not what I was thinking.  :)
So...the other day I just had to try again.
This is much better, but.....has plenty of room for improvement!!!
It's tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Purple Splendor.
Before adding the lock chains around the outside to bring about
the broomstick lace look, it looked like this.  I love the look for
a second choice in the design.  So it will be 2 patterns in 1.  :)
While working on the lock chains I ended up with "sea-sickness",
don't ask....I have no explanation or understanding.  It was awful
and I don't know what the cause was since I was just sitting and tatting,
but I pray it NEVER happens again!!!  :)
Have a tat-fully wonderful day!!!!!!!!!!!

Fabulous idea! I do like the look of the long picots in the third picture.

Thank you Diane!!! :) So far you are the 3rd person to pick that one!! :)

My humble suggestion would be to not twist the picots as in #2 version; keep the outer chains like you did in #1 version ; and apply these chain directions to #3. The untwisted picots give a very pretty fuller, lacier look & with shorter chains around, that look will be maintained.
Very interesting application :-)
Looking forward to what you going to actually do !

Thank you muskaan!!! :) I appreciate all suggestions and help!!! :) The idea is for a broomstick lace cross and I achieved that in the second picture. I used lock chains for the second picture and that was a new one for me. And the third picture is before I added the lock chains, but several people have told me how much they like that one, so I plan on working on making it better, and also the second one, but the first was set aside a long time ago since it didn't turn out like I planned. :)

Interesting effects you've created! Yes, the third one it pretty. I wonder if the long picots would get muddled over time? Or would you frame it?

I like your idea of the cross and the second one looks like a cross to me rather than the first one, I hope your sea sickness does not return, not nice,
Have a great tatting weekend

Thank you both!!! :)
Jane, I hadn't thought about the picots getting messed up, but thanks for making me think!!! And, framing would be a possibility, but just to let you know it would need to be a small frame for this specific one(or another in size 40) cuz' it's only about 2 1/2 inches tall. :)
Thank you Margaret for the hope against the sea sickness. I sure wish I knew what caused it so I can avoid it at all cost!!! It went away about 3 hours later. :)

Those are lovely and quite a unique look. The first one to me looks like it desperately wants to be a flower. :)

I wrote a comment the other day and must not have sent publish, but love to see this idea it is great! The top on is beautiful and if you lengthen this there will be one of the prettiest patterns i do believe!
