Question time....

If you take 2 size 40 threads and use them together like a hand wound thread will they be equal to a size 20 thread??  Just thinking and wondering.

Hhhmmmmmm. That's a good question. I think they would end up to be larger than 20 when put together. But I don't know why I think that?

I would think so, but I've never tried.

Larger that a #20!

I’m fairly certain I have tried it and it was very thick...

I think it would work up more like size ten or even bigger. Interesting question. I'll have to try it.

One of my chain with a size 40 has got 10ds in 1cm long. So if I were you I'd try if those two strands together do the same. (http://ninettacaruso.blogspot.it/2015/03/repetita-iuvant-at-least-to-myself.html)

Thanks for the responses everyone!! :) I think I will try it.

I think that in theory it should be equal to 20. But try it.

Let us know how it comes out! I think that even if the strands were exactly 1/2 the diameter of size 20 that there would be thicker and thinner spots because of uneven twisting.
But, that is a guess.

I think in theory it should be, it's worth a try, would you find it hard to tat with two heads at the same time on one shuttle

Thanks Margaret!! :) I am trying it currently and it seems to be going well. Just have to keep an eye on the two threads staying together and one not slacking and leaving any loops. And I am liking the size for the project I am using it for. :) Will post when finished.
