2014 25 Motif Challenge #'s 4 & 5

Motif # 4 is Wedding or Anniversary Cross(Wedding for my purpose) by Dee Powell in the book Tatted Bookmarks Needle & Shuttle edited by Barbara Foster.
It's tatted with DMC gold metallic thread 40m and Lizbeth Snow White size 20.  It's really quite small(not what I was expecting) maybe about 3 inches high.
Motif #5 is a one of a kind.  This beautiful pin came from Fox one day and anxiously awaited some embellishment.  Well....I finally got around to "risking" it and went to work yesterday and this is what came out.  I didn't want to detract from the beauty of the pin, so I just highlighted it a bit with some tatting.  :)
It's tatted in (I believe) size 40 HDT from Jess at Tat-i-licious.  It was a request for a thread called confetti, but somehow I didn't really get my idea across to her.  Either way she came up with this beautiful colorway which I called Hippie Summer cuz' it looked like blue jeans and sunset.  Well, the colors matched the colors in this pin so beautifully I knew they had to go together!!!  :)
And the beads are from Jon at TAT-A-RENDA.
I had trouble getting a good picture, but here are 2.  :)
Last of all, I got another suncatcher done for my mother-in-law's friend.  :)  This is Sue Hanson's Val's Suncatcher:  http://freespace.virgin.net/bo.hanson/Tatting/CrystalRing/CrystalsRing.html  (for some reason the link doesn't seem to be working now).  It's tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Tropical Punch with cheap kids pink(they really are pink, but it only seems to show in the glow on the picture) beads.

Could use some assistance from some wonderful tatters :)

I found this beautiful edging pattern and would love to tat it for my mother-in-law, but when I sat down to tat it I discovered I need help.  I have one repeat done, but the ball thread for the chain is on the wrong side to be able to make the next chain properly.  If someone has tatted this or knows what I am missing I would appreciate any help.  :)

2014 25 Motif Challenge # 3

Well, I finally finished them!!  These bracelets were requested from a friend way back last July.  She wants us to have matching friendship bracelets(she has Cerebral Palsy), and asked me to make them for us.  I wanted a sturdy bracelet for her so this seemed like a good one.  It's Jane Eborall's Celtic or Overlapping Friendship Bracelet, pattern here: http://www.janeeborall.freeservers.com/CelticFriendBracelet.pdf .
I really love the colors in Jane's!!!!  :)
My friend, Krissy, loves purple and I love blue so this is what I came up with.
They are tatted in Lizbeth size 40 Lilac Dk., Caribbean, and Royal Blue.
I usually use lobster claw clasps, but she has trouble with one arm so I thought these Heart Toggle Clasps from Hobby Lobby would be a better choice.  I can't wait to get it to her(but it will have to wait a little bit cuz' she lives an hour away).  The top one is Krissy's with a purple center, and the bottom one is mine with a blue center.  Oh, don't look to closely at mine please.  I hurried and got it done(with plenty of errors, but I still like it and at least the mistakes are in mine and not hers!).   :)
Oh, and I need to say...I already hate working with 2 shuttles!  Now, I hate working with 4 shuttles!!  And I have a 6 shuttle pattern waiting for me to take that step and make it some day, and I have seen a 12 shuttle which interested me, but I am thinking I would be completely out of my mind to consider that one!!!  :)

2014 25 Motif Challenge Motif # 2

This is the doily for my mom.
It's Coppelia from Tatting Patterns and Designs by Gun Blomqvist and Elwy Persson.
It's tatted in Lizbeth size 40 Pink Blossoms.  My mom's favorite color is pink which I just found out this year, so I think this will brighten her day, and with all the snow we have had, that would be a good thing!
I tried to get some good pictures.  No perfection here, but I think it turned out good.
It's just a bit larger than my hand.
Off to try and start/finish a long awaited pair of friendship bracelets.  Hopefully I will have something to show soon!  :)

Doodad Doodling :)

With having to move our niece in and the house in a MESS!  I was having tatting withdrawals!!  Yes, they are real(like our daughter's internet withdrawals).  :)
I grabbed a shuttle with thread and the ball too, and a doodad and went to work.  It was actually quick and easy without a pattern(which let me say, I was so uninspired, but really wanted something on this doodad).  I think it turned out beautiful and everyone here likes it!!  :)
It's tatted in Lizbeth size 40 Angel's Love and the doodad is from Hobby Lobby and it's called a flower connector.
The center parts are not chains, but instead are SCMR's.  I make that bead in the center stand up with not laying on the scanner.
Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day!!!  :)

2014 25 Motif Challenge Motif #1

This is Mary Konior's Ring A Ring O' Roses from Tatting with Visual Patterns in size 40 Lizbeth Sea Island Citrus.  Our niece just moved in with us and wants a set of tatting in photo coasters as I have done in the past.  I let her pick the motifs she wanted and the colors, but this one is too big for the coaster(and I don't think I would like to try it again-it IS a challenge!!).  I love it in these colors, but I don't thing I am good at tatting it.  :)  It HAD to be blocked just to lay flat.  I think it's pretty good.
So...now, we are trying another motif to see if it will fit in a coaster.  :)

A little tatting, and a LOT of snow!! :)

When I was tatting the small garlands, my friend brought me some ivory colored garlands that she bought several years ago and wanted me to tat them too.  Well....these are 18 ft. long and I knew the Lizbeth Christmas Delight wasn't going to look very well with them, so I looked and Lizbeth Cranberry Bush in size 10 looked like it would work well.
So... Here is the first of (if I remember correctly) 4.
I think the colors look like old Victorian Christmas colors.
And yes, my Christmas tree is still up, due to a lot of bad things happening to start this year, so I used it to model the garland.
Here is the garland on my couch.
 It's long!!!  Took 1 1/2 balls of size 10.
See below, still decorated for Christmas.  :)  Ummm.. to start the explanation: On the Friday after Christmas I had to take my dad to the hospital for a scheduled surgery, when I got home that night I was very sick and my mom got it 2 days later, then my husband 2 days later.  We never got to go see my dad recovering due to the sickness.
Well, my dad was supposed to come home on Jan. 1, but the hospital called and said they might have to put dad on life support.  By midnight, he was on full life support and totally unresponsive, and he died the next morning.  And I was sick for 2 whole weeks.  Well, I am making this next doily hoping to brighten my mom's day when she receives it.  She loves pink and I really hope she likes this.  I have one more round to go.  I will post the finished piece when it's done.  Thanks again to all those who helped with the confusion of instructions!! : )
Now, for the LOTS of snow.  This is this morning(and it still looks that way cuz' it's the back door and I am not going out right now!!!)
This was our front steps this morning.
This is a double drift outside our livingroom window and is almost as high as the bottom part of the window.
This is God's handiwork, a crater drift between the neighbor's house on the left, and our shed on the right.
And this is my hubby.  Can yo see how high that snow is(thigh high on this 6 foot guy).  He hates shoveling, but he can't stand staying home so he shoveled all of that in front of our van just so he could get away for a bit.  So...as I said...a little tatting, and a LOT of snow!!!  :)
Well, now you have the explanation for my slack in blogging.  Thanks for all the wonderful comments since and I hope you are all doing well and having a much better start to your new year!!!  :)
Oh, and all this snow must have been our 28th Wedding Anniversary gift from God.  :)  Cuz' it's today.  :)
