Tatted and finished today

If I could stay at this rate I would have plenty
for the craft shows!!!  ;)
This is another Ice Drop Suncatcher using Sue
Hanson's pattern:
https://web.archive.org/web/20120811100815/http://freespace.virgin.net/bo.hanson/Tatting/CrystalRing/CrystalsRing.html
Tatted again in size 40 Lizbeth Butterfly Breeze
and my crackle beads, but using a different
color beads this time.
And another one set aside to be made and to
draw out another color of the thread. The
first one pulled out the teal, this one the
yellow, the next pink.  ;)
Here are the 2 side by side to see the difference.

Oh, I added 8 more motifs to the tablecloth last night-
still making progress!
More bad news on the house/land deal, but prayer
and tatting are helping me through.
Have a great day tatting along!!!! :)

A Suncatcher

Well....I tatted this suncatcher trying out something new.  I didn't have beads to match except these little ones so I decided to see if I could make "tatted beads".  I tatted 2ds and placed one bead from the shuttle thread, then 1ds and another bead, then either a join or a picot(which ever was needed at that time), then 1ds another bead, another 1ds and another bead then 2ds.  They work!!!  :)
Usually I glue the knots then trim close, but I wanted this done and just before I put it on the scanner I was trying to straighten the chains a bit and if you look to the left hand side you will see that the chain broke and is floating.  Oh well.....I could always use another suncatcher for me.  :)  Now, that I know this works, I might try another(but, I will glue the knots before I mess with anything next time)!!!  :)
This is size 40 Lizbeth Green Coral Sea and little green beads.
Hope you are having a wonderful day!!!  :)
Enjoy your tatting time!!!  :)

A little more tatting. :)

This is another of Sue Hanson's Val's Suncatcher:  http://freespace.virgin.net/bo.hanson/Tatting/CrystalRing/CrystalsRing.html   (for some reason the link doesn't seem to be working now).
It's tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Island Breeze with cheap plastic blue beads(I love this combination!!).
And....using up the left over thread on the shuttle I tatted Kejora from Tatting with Rings by Jon Yusoff, and I am working on another tatting with rings project.

2014 25 Motif Challenge #'s 4 & 5

Motif # 4 is Wedding or Anniversary Cross(Wedding for my purpose) by Dee Powell in the book Tatted Bookmarks Needle & Shuttle edited by Barbara Foster.
It's tatted with DMC gold metallic thread 40m and Lizbeth Snow White size 20.  It's really quite small(not what I was expecting) maybe about 3 inches high.
Motif #5 is a one of a kind.  This beautiful pin came from Fox one day and anxiously awaited some embellishment.  Well....I finally got around to "risking" it and went to work yesterday and this is what came out.  I didn't want to detract from the beauty of the pin, so I just highlighted it a bit with some tatting.  :)
It's tatted in (I believe) size 40 HDT from Jess at Tat-i-licious.  It was a request for a thread called confetti, but somehow I didn't really get my idea across to her.  Either way she came up with this beautiful colorway which I called Hippie Summer cuz' it looked like blue jeans and sunset.  Well, the colors matched the colors in this pin so beautifully I knew they had to go together!!!  :)
And the beads are from Jon at TAT-A-RENDA.
I had trouble getting a good picture, but here are 2.  :)
Last of all, I got another suncatcher done for my mother-in-law's friend.  :)  This is Sue Hanson's Val's Suncatcher:  http://freespace.virgin.net/bo.hanson/Tatting/CrystalRing/CrystalsRing.html  (for some reason the link doesn't seem to be working now).  It's tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Tropical Punch with cheap kids pink(they really are pink, but it only seems to show in the glow on the picture) beads.

Michelle's requested Tutorial: Attaching suncatchers to bracelets

I use this pattern:   This is Sue Hanson's Val's Suncatcher:  http://freespace.virgin.net/bo.hanson/Tatting/CrystalRing/CrystalsRing.html
I tat the suncatcher as she says and then attach it the way she says.  Here is a photo tutorial:
First, I tat the suncatcher center.
Next, put the center in the bracelet.
Next, take a length of string..
wrap it around the bracelet once leaving a good long "tail),
Then pull the string through one of the center picots on a chain...
(not a clear picture, but..)here, the string in pulled through the picot
pull it all the way through..
now you have to wrap it once around the bracelet..
 here it is wrapped once..
pull it up snuggly(it won't stay, but it will help while pulling the thread through the next picot.
After pulling it through again, wrap once then pull through the next picot all the way around.
When you get to the end...snug the thread up all the way around and straighten out your suncatcher center..
then I usually just tie a knot  **doing my best to keep the tension-which can be hard!
Then, I usually just take the "tails" of the string and..
make a knot at the length I choose..
then trim close to the knot..
and it makes a hanger for me..
 See?  :)
Now, this is the easiest way I have joined the suncatchers to the bracelets!
*I have also tatted the chains to the bracelet, but that is tough and it makes it hard to tat with the bracelet in the way, and sometimes the chains don't look so nice when done that way.
*I have also taken the "tails" of thread at the end leaving them very long and then tatted a lock chain, or spiral chain the length I want a hanger to be and then just tied a loop at the top.
I hope this helps!!!  :)

Oops!!!  I guess I made a small mistake Michelle.  I thought you wanted to know how to attach the suncatchers, and I rechecked my comments and found out you asked about a dream catcher tutorial.  I will do my best to work on one for you-please forgive me.  Maybe this will help someone else.  :)

Suncatchers

I tried something different when attaching them to the bangle bracelet.
Joining while tatting is quite frustrating and hard!!!
This first one is done with size 40 Lizbeth Angels' Love, cheap kids plastic beads and a red and silver bangle bracelet.
This next is done with size 20 Lizbeth Royal Wave, cheap kids plastic beads, and a blue and silver bangle bracelet.
Sorry the scans aren't great!!  And for anyone interested...I purchased the bangles at Walmart in 4 packs(I figure they are out for the 4th of July, but they work great for these so I will probably get some more).

Caribbean suncatcher

Here is the Lizbeth size 20 Caribbean suncatcher. It just fits in the bracelet, but it sags when strung on since there isn't any stretch room, but that's ok cuz' I used fabric stiffener on the outside rings and chains and I am sure my mother-in-law will love this one too. :)

Peacock Blues Suncatcher

I know it seems as though I am stuck on suncatchers, but they are in demand. My mother-in-law has one of my Tat-ilicious pink/purple/blue suncatchers and has decided she NEEDS 2 more because she has it on her lampshade and she says it beautifies it and looks so "purty" at night when the lamp is on. So...since her favorite color is blue and she saw this thread and loved it she gets this Lizbeth size 40 Peacock Blues suncatcher. And I made one in Lizbeth size 20 Caribbean, but it's just barely too large for the bracelet so I used fabric stiffener on it and am hoping that it will hold it's own shape and can be used for the 2nd "needed" suncatcher(will post after it dries). :)

2012 25 Motif Challenge: Motif # 8 Flower Burst Doily

This is the Flower Burst Doily from the Ultimate Book of Tatted Doilies. It's tatted with size 40 Lizbeth Tropical Punch and Lemon Yellow. It's pretty, but not beautiful. I could not get the chains to lay right, but that's ok for now.

Next is another suncatcher. This one is done in size 40 Lizbeth Juicy Watermelon(one of my favorite colors). I love this one(it looks better in person), and my husband has claimed it and has already demanded that it be put in the window next to our bed(his side of the bed of course). :)

And....just because I am loving these flowers...here are more(and another run-out-of thread fragment.

Another suncatcher(this one made today) :)

This suncatcher is made with a pink plastic bracelet my mother-in-law found, and Lizbeth size 40 Rainbow Taffy and more kids beads in pink, purple, blue and yellow. And I really wanted this one to stand out so I added chains to the outside of the bracelet. They are the same as the ones in the pattern except they are 10p3p3p10 instead of the 5p3p3p5 in the pattern. I figured they would need to be larger . I think it turned out perfect for a little girl. The scan doesn't really show how pretty it is, but it's the best I can do. :)

Next, I love Mary's Butterfly so much and was inspired to try and make a flower, and I wanted to use 2 different colored threads. It works!!! :)
The first one was actually the last when I ran out of thread when emptying shuttles(got 5 emptied), and the next 2 were the whole flowers, and the last is Mary's butterfly done in size 10-not quite as pretty in the larger size, but my daughter wants it sewn on a pair of her shorts for the summer. :)

Tatting in slow motion

I feel like I can't tat fast enough, or just that things have slowed me down. I have been working on a doily which I am on the last round and hoping to have done soon(no promises). And I have another suncatcher done this time in Lizbeth size 40 Purple Iris Fusion with cheap plastic kids beads, but they match so well. :)

I also have a few other things to show hopefully tonight or tomorrow. :)

Requests getting done!! :)

Here are the suncatchers!! The top 2 are my mother-in-law's, the bottom rainbow is my friend's, and the last one is for me. :) Have a very happy day!!! :)

Oh, and I should mention that the beads are all cheap plastic kids beads I have had for years(since my girls-who are all adults now-were young and making little "necklaces" and such).

Suncatchers catching on... :)

I made our oldest granddaughter a rainbow suncatcher.
This is Sue Hanson's Val's Suncatcher:  http://freespace.virgin.net/bo.hanson/Tatting/CrystalRing/CrystalsRing.html

Then another..this for our youngest daughter(21). And as you can see it's hung already.

And my friend has requested a rainbow one. And my mother-in-law a rainbow one and a pink/purple/blue one. And this weekend when we surprised my mother-in-law with a birthday celebration she loved the bracelet I made her, and she saw the Valentine heart earrings I made and gave me $4 for them. The bracelet and one of the Valentine heart earrings is in this previous post: http://hiskid66.blogspot.com/2012/01/lots-of-tatting-and-updates-and-2012-25.html
So....now I am off to make another 3 suncatchers(sure am glad I bought many bangle bracelets!). :)
Have a great day everyone!!!

2012 25 Motif Challenge Motif # 5 Suncatcher

Oh my goodness this is pretty(to me). This is Sue Hanson's Val's Suncatcher:  http://freespace.virgin.net/bo.hanson/Tatting/CrystalRing/CrystalsRing.html
It's made in a bangle bracelet and in size 40 Pink/Purple/Blue variegated HDT from Jess at: http://jess-tats.blogspot.com/ I love this gorgeous thread!!! And I think this will be a birthday gift for our youngest granddaughter and make another for her older sister, and I have a request from my youngest daughter(21) for a Rainbow-licious one.
