Supposed Squares

I had this thought in my mind and decided to see if I could tat it.
Well.....guess not exactly.
The thought was that if I tatted rings with plenty of picots to
join them it would pull the rings into square shapes.
It kind of worked on the inside "ringsquares", but not
as much as I had thought.  Also, the chains around the
outside were supposed to be straight and lay against the
"ringsquares" to help pull them into the squares also.
Well....nice thought.  Maybe if my rings were not
pulled closed so tightly, but I am not wanting to try
again right now.
There is one good thing.  I had envisioned a border
for a different project which looks like the chain
border here, so I did learn a couple of things.  :)
The tatted section is only about 2 inches long.
It's tatted in size 20 Lizbeth Western Sunset.
Happy tatting today!!!  :)

2015 25 Motif Challenge # 15 Tina Frauberger Bookmark

I saw this gorgeous bookmark that Robin Perfetti had done and wanted to tat it.
I didn't do it as well as I would like, but I think I did ok for a first try, and I need to learn those Catherine wheel joins(I tried!).  The Pattern is here:   http://tattingbythebay.blogspot.com/2015/08/polished.html  .
This is tatted in size 20 Sugar Plum HDT from Tat-ilicious,
and Lizbeth Ocean Teal Med.
I think if I block it then it would lay nicer, but I just finished it and need some sleep,
so it's right from the shuttles.
Guess I should say it's about 4 inches long and about 2 inches wide.
Well, another challenge piece done.  Plenty more to do!!
Have a wonderful night/day!!  :)
Enjoy some tatting too!!!  :)

No more Kaleidoscope HDT left

I love this colorway and am so sad to say that I cannot get anymore!!!
I had so much fun tatting with it and there is none left.
I just had to make another tiny "beaded flower"-although I call it the beaded starflower, so now I have a pair which can be made into earrings for someone.  :)

I tatted those beaded flowers and had a little bit left so....I tatted this bookmark using Mary Konior's Chain Reaction edging pattern from Tatting with Visual Patterns(book), and call it my Chain Reaction bookmark.  I had to guess at how to make the end, and I think it turned out well.  It has a slight curve, but what you see here is just thrown on the scanner.
As you can see with most of my tatting...sewing in ends gets put off till I feel like it(which isn't often).
I hope your start to this new year has been tatfully wonderful!!! :)

A little test tatting today.....

Elaine P. Gan asked if someone would just look over her pattern, but after the holiday and the granddaughters(who just went home today), I wanted to tat something so I test tatted this bracelet pattern.  Just to let you know I believe that the "waviness" is due to my personal errors-the pattern was fine!.  Either way, I love it!!!  I may use it as a bookmark instead of a bracelet, but that is in debate right now.  It's tatted in size 40 Kaleidoscope HDT from Tat-i-licious.  I love this colorway and wish she was still dying threads!!!!!
With all the peace and quiet I will probably fall apart after having our granddaughters since Christmas day(and having an all-nighter with them Sunday night after church.....oh, just so you know, they fell asleep at 3am).
I am praying, hoping, and planning on trying to finish up anything I started last year(or whenever) before the end of 2016.
I hope you had a wonderful and blessed Christmas, and are having some good tatting time!!!  :)

Ooops, I guess I should tell you that the doily was loved!!!  Although, there was a total surprise twist in who received it.  Since my in-laws knew nothing about it, and my hubby was pouting the other day saying he wished he could keep it and just give them a gift card.....I decided to wrap it and give it to him as a gift-which totally surprised him!!!!  And the in-laws loved their gift card to their favorite steak restaurant.  This next year may have 2 surprised doilies(we'll see).  :)

More suncatchers and a bookmark

This suncatcher is tatted with size 40 Lizbeth Island Breeze and cheap kids plastic blue beads.
This suncatcher is tatted with size 40 Lizbeth Scottish Thistle and cheap kids plastic purple and green beads(the green beads have a slight blue hue to them, but when it the light it doesn't show as much).
And then this beautiful bookmark.  It's Hearts by Dee Powell from the book Tatted Bookmarks Needle & Shuttle.  It's tatted in size 40 Tat-ilicious HDT from Jess called Queen Anthias.  I love how beautiful it is, but I am not sure if I can use it as a bookmark, because I had to block this one to get it straight-so I wetted it down with water and pinned it to paper towel and some of the pink and purple colors bled onto the paper towel and I wouldn't want that to get on pages of books(unless they are mine forever-then no problem).  So I am thinking that this bookmark is for me.  :)
