Geckos

These Geckos are Jane Eborall's pattern here:  http://janeeborall.freeservers.com/DoodleGecko.pdf
They are for our granddaughters.  The earrings are for the 11 year old who has terrible trouble finding earrings that won't give her infections.  Every metal and even plastic have caused problems, but we are going to give these a try(mom said it was ok).  They are tatted in size 80 Lizbeth Springtime(she chose the color).  I wish they looked better, but I can't seem to get them to stay snuggly together without gaps!!.  The other one will probably become a necklace for the 7 year old who said she wanted a gecko to hold in her hand and then make it a necklace(we shall see-that mind changes faster than our weather!).  :)  It's tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Caribbean(by her choice).
I thought there would be more of a size difference, but surprises happen.  ;)
They have both chose another project for each of them which I think may wait till next week since I have been super busy and need a break.  :)
Have a happy tatting weekend(if possible!!)  :)

Aren't they cute - I'm sure your grands will be thrilled! I love the Lizbeth thread; I noticed a huge difference after using some of my crochet thread to learn to tat. Much, much smoother :o)

Sweet geckos! I hope the earrings will be wearable, otherwise the geckos will have to be just admired.

The little geckos are cute. I have a problem wearing metal, also - but I can wear plastic ear wires. Have you tried 'surgical' steel and stainless steel? I've been considering trying niobium - have heard it is non-allergenic, but have not tried it yet. I certainly hope you find some sort of ear wires she can wear. It would be disappointing to have such cute earrings and not be able to wear them.

Thank you SWtrompeter!!! :) My daughter says that they have tried everything and the only things she didn't get an infection from was glass and acrylic which are terribly hard to find and you have to gauge your ears and make a larger opening for them so she isn't willing to do that to an 11yr. old(thankfully!). I hope these work-we shall find out in a couple of weeks.
