I have a special friend and wanted a quick pretty gift for her so.....

 I ended up tatting an Ice Drop for her.

My daughter had gotten something in this cute 

little box and left it for me to use and it worked 

perfectly.  Both my friend and her mom loved 

the Ice Drop.  :)

Working on finishing Christmas gifts.  These would 

be done, but the super glue didn't work, so I have to 

go get E6000.  But they will be large magnets for 

the refrigerator.

Working on tatting

Well, I thought I was doing pretty good, half way around 

but the ruffling is way too much!!
This is in Lizbeth size 3 Snow White.

So I started to cut it off, but then snipped a thread 

from the previous row and had no way to fix it, and 

since that row had a continuous mistake in it, I figured 

it was meant to be, so two rows to start over.

 Today I needed a change so I decided to tat an Ice Drop.
Tatted in size 20 Lizbeth Coral Splash.  Just made up 

the design as I tatted.

For those who are wondering, nope, not in the house 

yet.

Square 3 of 4 added to the mat, and a new idea in progress.

The mat is getting close to getting completed.

Could be a day or two depending on what life 

throws my way.

I figured out that I mess up tons more when I 

am in the process of joining one to another so...

this last one has more joins and WILL get full 

attention!!!

And....I needed a color change in the middle so...

I started another idea and guess what it includes...

of course, Ice Drops.  So, this is how far I got today 

before I decided that I needed to get that square 

done today.  I will keep you posted as the project 

progresses and hopefully works!
Oh, this is the basic pattern, but I think it's been so 

long that I got my chains mixed up, but I like 

the look so I am keeping it this way.  ;)

I used size 40 Lizbeth thread for this.
Basic Ice Drop in size 40- Back Rings 6-6--6-6  rw
                                           Back Chains 8-8  rw
                                           Front Rings 8-8-8  rw
                                           Front Chains 12  rw (do not cut when done)

First Round for Princess Ice Drop: (12 beads on chain thread)

Chains 6-2  rw

Rings 4 j(to picots on Basic Ice Drop chains) 4  rw

Chains 3 ( bead ) 2-1  rw

Rings 3 j(to same picot as the last join) 3  rw

Chains 1-2 (bead) 3  rw

Rings 4 j(to the same picot as the last 2 joins) 4  rw

Chains 2-6 

(repeat all this to the finish, cut, tie, hide ends)

                                                                                                               
Round 2 for Fancy Princess Ice Drop: (36 beads on shuttle thread, 90 on chain thread)

Rings 2b 2b 2b 2 j to left picot in center of "petal" shapes, 2b2 j to right picot in center of "petal" shapes.

Chains 5 (3 beads) 5-5 (3 beads) 5 j(to left picot on top of "crown" of "petal" shapes), j(to right picot on top of "crown" of "petal" shapes), (3 beads over top of those joins), 5 (3 beads) 5-5 (3 beads) 5.

Cut, tie, hide ends.

   

For Princess Ice Drop Suncatcher-I used a bangle bracelet almost 3 inches across.

I had plenty of thread on my shuttle yet, so I unwound about 2 feet and used a crochet hook to pull the thread through the picots on the outer chains and then wrapped the thread once around the bracelet, and then pulled it through the next picot until I had them all "laced".  Then I snugged up the thread and then tied the tails and then tatted a zig-zag chain 3 first half stitch, then 3 second half stitch until I got it as long as I wanted it, and then I tatted a ring with the shuttle thread 15 stitches and hid the end.

                            

Yesterday...

Yesterday I had to take a friend to the pain clinic 

for her appointment.  These appointments are 

usually around 2 hours or so.  Well, I had packed 

up my doily to take along and tat, but, I grabbed 

my purse which was sitting right next to the tatting 

and walked out assured that I was prepared and on 

time.  Yep....NOPE!!!  I got there to pick her up 

and realized that I had forgotten my tatting.  Oh 

well, life goes on.  She says, oh no! you will have 

to just sit there the whole time(totally disappoint-

ed for me).  I assured her I would survive.

Well, when she got called back to the doctor I 

saw a lady knitting and moved over to a seat

near her and asked what she was knitting.  She 

said it was a baby blanket for the local pregnancy 

center.  I told her I would be tatting, but I made 

a mistake and forgot it at home.  Well, she asked 

about tatting and was really interested, when I 

remembered I had and Ice Drop( right one in 

the picture below), and I took it out and she really

like it so I gave it to her.

She was so surprised that I would give it to her, 

she stopped and then grabbed these beautiful little

scissors out of her bag and said here.  I said, but 

you will need those, she said, don't worry, I have 

another pair(and showed me the other pair).

She was so sweet! So, now I have new tatting 

scissors!!  ;)

I have gotten another angel done for the orders 

I have.  And I am continuing to tat those twin 

doilies.

Still busy!!!

I am still busy tatting the twin doilies and have row 

15 done on one and starting on the next.  I am also 

still working on the 3 angels, but I have 3 done in 

the same color so I am ready to move on to another 

color.
I really needed a change of color and design so I 

decided an Ice Drop was a quick enough diversion.

So, this is Nicola Bowersox's pattern from Ice Drop 

Addicts page on facebook.  All in red!!!

 The other evening I spotted these fabulous pink & 

blue stripes in the eastern sky......

 and this gorgeous sunset in the western sky!!  It's 

amazing how the sky can look so different looking 

out one side of the house, and then the other!!!

I will post doily updates soon, but figured I have 

posted plenty of the same thing for awhile, and 

since they are just rows and rows of chains I thought 

I would just give a written update.  ;)

A Purple Minty Fudge Ice Drop

This is Diane's Minty Fudge Ice Drop tatted in size 

40 Lizbeth Purple Splendor.  There are adjustments 

made to the center back and front, but the outer round 

is according to the pattern(that is why the chains don't 

look right, but I think it's a pretty flower shape this 

way.

Still working on emptying this shuttle.

My Florette in size 80

This is my Florette Ice Drop pattern tatted in size 80

Lizbeth Berry Burst.  I am calling it a bead drop since 

the center gem isn't glass, actually it's like a rubber 

bead by the feel of it.  The colors go so well with the 

bead I just had to try, and I felt like the Florette would 

bring out the flowers too!

An Elderberry Jam Florette Ice Drop

I tatted another Florette.  I needed to empty 

more shuttles and this is one of my favorite 

colorways.  It's size 40 Lizbeth Elderberry Jam.

 I wanted to add beads, but didn't think it 

out well so...they waited and were added to 

the top of the hanging loop.  ;)

**I used Lizbeth size 40 thread for this.  And a regular sized gem.

R= ring,  Ch= chain, sm. p= small picot, lg. p= large picot, j= join

Center back:

R  6 sm. p  6 lg. p  6 sm. p  6

Ch 6 sm. p  3 lg. p  3 sm. p  6

Continue as a basic Ice Drop joining the rings to the last picot of the ring, and second to the large picot on the first ring, and remember to join the last ring to the first ring to complete it.  This has a total of 6 rings and 6 chains.

Front center(rings and chains holding gem in):

R  8 lg. p  8 lg. p  8

Ch  12

Outer round:

Ch  4 sm. p  3

R  3 j 3 

Ch 10 j 10 

R  3 j 3

Ch  3 sm. p  4 (next chains will join to this picot, and the final chain will join to the very first chain).

**Tat this in which order is easiest for you.  This is the order I prefer.

My (new) Florette Ice Drop

We had to get taxes done today and I am always 

so extremely bored since I don't know half of what 

they are talking about, so..I decided ahead of time to 

take tatting along.  And Ice Drop would be nice, 

quick and easy enough, especially if I just make it 

up and don't need a pattern.

So, I ended up with what I am calling Florette.

 The plan was to have an orange center gem, but the 

color didn't look good enough when time to add the 

gem so I had a green one along just in case.

Oh, it's tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Autumn Spice.

I really like the design and wrote out what I did in 

case I get requests for the pattern.

Side view of shell pendants & an Ice Drop

Ok, here is a picture of one of the sets of the shell 

necklace and earring sets I have been adding tatting 

to.  This is the set I will be adding the Tropical 

Punch colored tatting to.

I was asked for a side view of the pendants.

Here is a side view.  They are very thin.

 If you are wondering what is in the window, it's 

my "giant" snowman suncatcher with a tatted 

center(belly).  I have plans to add more tatting, but 

a million other things have prevented me from getting 

it done so far, but I still love having it in the window!!

Still working to empty my Tatsy shuttle and got 

another Ice Drop done.  I love this one!! :)

 And got this motif which would be a back 

of an Ice Drop, but I don't want to wind a 

shuttle to add the front.  So...my Tatsy 

is finally empty(it was only half full).

I am afraid to fully admit that I am an addict!!

I am trying to empty a Tatsy shuttle and it seems 

endless.  When I started this Ice Drop I thought 

I might run out of thread, but nope, there is still 

thread on the shuttle.  Oh well, I am trying!

necklace.

Lizbeth Wildflower Garden.  The outer round looks 

different because I used her stitch counts and in 

size 40 I should have added more stitches.  Oh well, 

it's cute.

Diane's Pink Fudge Ice Drop

It's very white around here(close to over a foot of snow 

already and it's still snowing and supposed to over the 

next 8 days at least) so, I tatted a flower Ice Drop.

It's Diane's Pink Fudge Ice Drop pattern in size 40 

Lizbeth Wildflower Garden thread.  The center gem

looks very blue, but it's closer to the color of the beads

and the purple in the thread.
