These are for my sister and my in-laws.
I made one several years back and loved it and
had planned on making me one and yet now I
have made 3 and not one is mine.
They are 8 inch suncatchers.

The design is Elaine P. Gan's Cathedral
I used all Lizbeth size 40 thread.
The colors are:  Christmas Red, Bright Orange,
Bright Yellow, Christmas Green,
Bright Blue Dk., and Purple Dk.
And lots and lots of 11/0 Preciosa Ornela glass beads.

Still working on Christmas tree earrings.
Hope you have a wonderful tatting filled day!!! :)

Actual tatting to show!!!

I have been tatting a bit. I have 2 snowflakes done
and 4 Christmas trees which will be 2 pair of earrings.
The first snowflake is Fifth Day of December
from 24 Snowflakes in Tatting by Lene Bjorn.

Second snowflake is Catrin from 20 Twenty to Make
Tatted Snowflakes by Jennifer Williams.
The Christmas trees are Christmas Tree Earrings by Linda S. Davies-link here: http://www.georgiaseitz.com/2007/ldaviesxmastearrings.pdf
I have also been working on 2 Christmas presents
and will show them when they are finished. Below I am preparing to work with my heart beads
and see what will become of them. :)
For those who saw that I took over knitting my blanket
which our daughter started years ago.....I have made
progress!!!  It's now too big to be a skirt(for those
who saw the first picture of it).  I was thinking it might
be done by Christmas, but I think it's going to be
by Thanksgiving, so it will be my Christmas present!!!
I can't wait to use it!!! :)
Oh, for those who need a little detail, it's just plain
knitting, Bernat Baby Blanket Yarn(thick fleece), and
it's 300 stitches across.
Well, more tatting to work on, besides all the normal
boring stuff.  Have a wonderful tatting filled day!!! :)

Sales and inspirations for tatting!!!

My sister gave me money for my birthday(first time
ever).  So, I carefully decided what I would get with
it and told her I would send her pictures.
It took a couple of months to decide, and then a trip
to Hobby Lobby.
I got 5 new shirts which I intend(and had better do
this time!!!)  ;)   to put tatting on each, and a couple
of the ones I bought several years back to do the same
with, but just left them.
Next, I also got beads & charms.  The charms are
for earrings(our daughter's suggestion), and the
beads are for tatted projects which have already
been in the practice, and thought works since last
year.
Then, I found 2 of these towering pumpkins for 70%
off.  They were originally $20 each, but I got them
for 6 each(there are 2 in this picture one behind the
other), and I got a 3rd which the base broke off for
around $4 for a breakage discount.
And.....some of my all time favorite Christmas
shows in puzzles for 1/2 off!!!
And, this is just to show the beautiful gift
my in-laws had made for us.
Then, we went for more bargain hunting and
I ended up with 3 ceramic paint yourself
turkeys which light up.  And, the autumn
leaf chimes, and all the  beads.
The light up pumpkin in back is our daughter's.
Below is a close-up of the beads from the picture
above.  The hot pink hearts are already sitting with
Lizbeth Rainbow Splash thread waiting to be
fancied up with tatting, soon!!
We also went to our local Dollar Tree store and
got several Christmas garlands.  We have "wreath"
frames shaped like candy canes and are planning
on making them up like I did a few last year.
And here is a picture:

I have finished tatting 2 Christmas gifts, but
have ends to sew in and then string them in
a ring, so you will see tatting soon!!!  And,
I have worked on some snowflakes which will
be shown next week with details, and then
hopefully at least one heart will be shown soon!
Have an awesome and blessed tatting filled
weekend!!! :)

friends for this one and send them to her.

Real Shell Earrings for a young mermaid

Ok, I don't like this new blogger so far!
I tatted around these real shells for our younger granddaughter
awhile ago, but finally made myself finish them.  They will
go great with her mermaid outfit.  Since she and our daughter
(not her mom) are both mermaids, our daughter got them matching
shell necklaces(not real shells).
About the knitting of the blanket.....I have added  many
rows now, but it doesn't show.  Right now it looks like
a large thick skirt.  ;)  But who knows, there is a chance
it could be done by Christmas and I can use it through
the winter then. ;)  We are waiting for some circular
needles to come in that have a 5 ft. cable between which
should make it easier to work with(I hope!!!).

Oh, I started 2 tatted Christmas gifts today.  May
have to start using my Tatted Christmas Secrets blogger
page again soon to share with you.  ;)  Shhhhhh.......
Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend and
getting some tatting in!  ;)

Random Tatting Doily Done

Well, after the frustrations of cutting off 3 tries on
the last round I decided to try and draw around the
doily to see if I could come up with something that
wouldn't have to be cut off.  It took a couple of tries,
but throwing away paper or erasing lines is easier
and less wasteful than cutting rounds even 3 inches
long!  ;)
I drew this round and loved it!  Tatted it and decided
this doily is done.  It's only 5 inches across in size 40
and you can see by the regular sized clover shuttle that
it's a small doily.  ;)
****For those interested, the stitch counts for this
doily are all 4s.  My daughter says I should call it
"May the 4's be with you".  ;)
Then Saturday night I went to bed, but woke back up
at 1am and was up until 4am.  I sat and watched
Christmas movies and then had an urge to tat something.
So, I found my HDT Confetti in size 20 and a Lizbeth
Lilac Med. also in size 20(I have very little size 20).
I started to tat the center of the doily again.
For those who wonder how much bigger the doily
would be in size 20 below is a picture of the 20
under the 40-not much difference.
Anyway, the doily is done for me.
I also knitted a 2nd dishcloth and now the
yarn is done.
Have a fabulous week of tatting!!!! :)

Another round(not my favorite) and some knitting

Well, I started another round on the random tatting
and I loved the look, the denseness and the way it
held the arches, but it ruffled bad.  Then, I did another
which looked good, but ruffled bad, and another the
same thing.  I was so frustrated after cutting off 3 starts.
I took a break and came back and ended up with this.
It's not my favorite, but it lays flat!  Wondering what
will come next......
My daughter had started a knitted blanket for me, but
it has sat several years about 1/3 to 1/2 done so I
decided I needed to learn so I can finish it.  After
I worked knitting on the blanket(we need to add
more yarn), I found the dishcloth our younger
granddaughter had started.  She had about and inch
done and I continued and below is the "finished"
dishcloth(the bottom is her part, and all the mistakes
above are mine!!  ;)  I think it's a good first!

And today I got on youtube to learn how to bind off
to finish that one, then how to cast on to start another.
I have this much done already.  I think I will try to
get back on my blanket tonight.  ;)
Hope you are having a wonderful tatting, or crafting
filled Saturday!! :)
