I saw this beautiful pattern and had thread left from
my Ice Drop earrings so I decided to try it. A ton
of beads and lots of thought, plus trial and error
has produced this beautiful Snowflake-link here:
I knew how to get the "diamond" of beads on the
tops of the rings and chains, but the tricky part was
trying to figure out how to get the "diamonds" at
the base of the rings. I took photos of what I did.
On the first chain(not pictured) I slid 2 beads from
the ball thread and one from the shuttle.
From then on it was like this....Before starting a
ring, slide a bead from the shuttle up to the end of
the chain.
And....slide 4 beads into ring, 3 for the top diamond
and one for the bottom of the ring, while holding the
other bead at the end of the chain(between my finger
and thumb).
Tat your first stitch of the ring close to the bead at
the end of the chain(which holds it in place), then
continue tatting your ring.
For those who don't know how to do the diamond
at the top of the ring, slide 3 of the beads(from around
the ring) to the top near the finger and thumb, and
one bead from the shuttle.
Tat your next ds to draw the beads into the diamond
shape, and continue with your ring.
When closing the ring, it was best for me to hold the
bottom bead to the left and pull closed slowly.
Now, as you see in the above picture you have 2
beads of the bottom of the ring diamond in place,
so next slide one bead from the ball, and one from
the shuttle into place, and tat the first part of your
chain.
Next, make another diamond(this time on the top
of the chain-which is like the top of the ring) slide
3 beads from the ball and one from the shuttle into
place.
Then tat the next half of the chain
Now, we slide a bead from the shuttle up to the
chain again and continue working the snowflake.
And, It's beautiful!! :)
**Oh, I tatted the last chain and cut and tied it
between the bottom and side beads of the final
diamond.
And for size, it's smaller than a bangle bracelet,
was hoping to make it a suncatcher.
Tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Honey Drizzle with
golden beads.
Happy tatting everyone!!! :)
