2011: 25 Motif Challenge- Motif #7

You won't believe this, but I was working on Jon Yusoff's Heart 0' Daisies Pattern
here: http://tatsaway-patterns.blogspot.com/2008/08/heart-o-daisy.html
And today my daughter and granddaughters stopped by for a bit and the oldest who's 6 yrs. old claimed the heart and said it was beautiful just the way it is and wouldn't let me do anymore to it(as a matter of fact-it ended up in her hand and left with her).
It's done in size 10 variegated rainbow thread. I will be making the full pattern some time. :)

And then her little 2 yr. old sister had to have something herself. Well.....butterflies didn't interest her, but a teeny tiny heart and a little fish were claimed, except that on the way to the car in all the snow(about a foot deep), the fish disappeared and the ride home for mom was awful! There was a terrible lot of screaming all the way home, so....I guess grandma had better make a bunch of "fishies" to get to the little one A.S.A.P. to save her mom's sanity. :)

2011: 25 Motif Challenge- Motif #6

I tried to start the Mary Konior Windmills pattern from Tatting with Visual Patterns a few weeks back and didn't succeed(this time), but I really think using the 100 size thread wasn't the best choice(although, I thought rainbow windmills would look awesome).

Yesterday I finished tatting 2 crosses(Mary Konior's Large Cross from tatting with Visual Patterns) for my husband just like the one I made for him here:https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8qSS9SI5jGqVf_RxCuFjvNKdWzyT7-rpSn634KllZkeGgJfvpfIXtHssFxhVlPZNPvpOFkrmJRWV_hTOM3UhzkW7ar_FxdhjbWtwFtXKTPM6603Ap4jx5DnntZCWF3NVspuDqG1cZXuU/s1600/lg+cross+for+Richard.jpg
And then I really needed a huge break from the size 10 thread to make those crosses in 4 days, so I grabbed the beautiful Rainbow Bright size 100 HDT from Tatskool and tried Mary Konior's Carnival pattern in Tatting with Visual Patterns. I have to say that I was confused by this pattern, but I really wanted to tat it in color because I don't know how you can look at a pattern named Carnival and think plain white.

2011: 25 Motif Challenge- Motif #5

My daughter got a set of headbands to wear, but they stretch too much, so I told her I could tat something to sew to the top and all the way through to help cut down on stretch. She picked Mary Konior's Honest edging pattern from Tatting with Visual Patterns. This is done is Lizbeth Black size 20. I just sewed it on today. I couldn't get a good scan or picture due to the black on black. I hope you can see it well enough.

2011: 25 Motif Challenge- Motif #4

Hi Everyone! Yes, I have been here and have been tatting. I have a friend(who knits) who had told me the other day that there was no way she could work on so many different projects like I have been doing. I tried to work on just one and realized that I need a constant change in color and design or I get bored too easy.
I have this beautiful new thread from Tatskool. It's Coral Reef size 40. I started a doily with this thread, but the center just curved so badly that it fits a glass ornament beautifully(which will be another project), and then I started a motif with it and just could not get it right from the start. I don't know why, but I had to make something with this thread. Then, I saw this pattern for the Wandering Blooms Bracelet by Dawn McLaughlin here: http://web.archive.org/web/20051201013809/www.georgiaseitz.com/2005/dmcbracelet.pdf
and decided to give it a try. It worked!!!
It's a little different than the original(less beads, and a jump ring and lobster claw clasp), but it's still awesome(I think!). I am stunned at the elegance of it. I kinda of named it a little differently.....I named this one Coral Waves. :)

Oh....and for those wondering, I have been working on all the other projects a little at a time.
Fox, you asked about the tablecloth...I have been working on it. It is about 13 inches and 34 motifs on it right now. I know it will take quite some time, but my husband is too excited and keeps encouraging me to work on it when I can. He says he doesn't want me to get sick of it so just work on it when I feel it's right. I will show it again when it gets a bit larger.
