Tatting and Crochet

I got my second ink pen tatted insert done.
At some point I will try a 3rd. ;)  It's a little
challenging for me and this 2nd one I made a
wrong join and it took a while to correct!
First one in Lizbeth size 20 Caribbean,
Second in Lizbeth size 20 Tropical Punch.
I am continuing to learn crochet.  I am up to 45
Sunburst Granny Squares out of 78 for my cardigan.
And, I crocheted 2 of the flower you see on the left top.
They are to become hexagons if I can get that figured
out.  And, I crocheted a heart that should be the
center of a square, but I didn't get that right either.  ;)
Here are the rest of my squares for the cardigan below,
 part of the count.
And, I saw these cool scrubbies and wanted to crochet
them for our daughter, but I am going to hide this and
just use it myself.  It didn't turn inward in the center
as the design shows(I followed a video that seemed
to be the same thing, but called a holiday decoration),
but my center is terrible. ;)  At least is looks almost
right. ;)  :)
Back to some tatting while I am at home this week
not feeling so well.  I can't go around all the seniors
if I am not up to 100%.  Don't want anyone else not
feeling well!!!
It's just plugged sinuses, but it worries some.  ;)
Have a great day!!  Enjoy some tatting!! :)

No tatting to speak of today....

But, my crochet is coming along!!

Again from Me Oh My Crochet.

This picture only has 6 squares, but I have
11 squares completed now.

And today I just crocheted my first flower!!
From the same artist, but I purchased a package
of patterns with several projects that have this
 flower. ;)
I thought I was doing pretty well, but wasn't clear
on the Round 4 instructions so I took a picture to
show the artist my project, and ask how to start the
next row- she answered me and said I missed a single
chain stitch between each cluster(which explained why
it was cupping so bad). ;)
Well, pull it all back out(much, much easier than taking
a row out of my tatting!!!), and redo it in just a few
minutes, and then start on the flower petals following
then instructions and I got it!! :)

Now to start tatting another cross to balance my
crafts out a bit, and then it should be supper time. ;)
Hope you are having a wonderful day!!!  :)

Tatting and a kind of new to me craft

Crosses, crosses and more crosses.
I have been tatting Elaine P. Gan's
Justification Cross and her
My Portion Cross.  They seemed like something
people were actually interested in last year at the
craft show, so I am trying to have about 10 of each.
And, I saw this "reel" on facebook for Oh Me, Oh My Crochet
and I love her color choices and Granny Square items.
Her Sunburst Granny Square Cardigan really caught my
attention and I would love to make it.  So, I am learning.
I wanted different colors, but they are only in the I Love
this Cotton, not in the I Love this Yarn(which is such
a shame), so I looked through all Hobby Lobby had and
this was the best choice for me.  I have decided not to add
a solid color for joining so it will all look uniform, and
according to our daughter- Tie-Dyed, which if you know
me...you know I love Tie-Dye!!  :D
So, below are my humble beginnings just in the last hour
or so.

I hope you are having a great start to your weekend!!
Happy Tatting and crafting everyone!!! :)

Wow! It's almost the end of July already!!!

I finally finished my collar/necklace.
Started June 17, 2024(funny, I thought I started it
this year).  ;)  It got set aside often while life got in
the way!!  I am so happy it's done.  Not perfect, but
done!!
Here is a close-up view.
Here is a full view.
Here is how I am clasping it.
Here is a view of the hook I am using.
I wore it yesterday all day.  I figured out I need to
find some way to connect it to the shirt at the
shoulders so it doesn't slip and slide!!

Also, Bernice inspired me to learn to put tatting
inside ink pens.  And Deana encouraged it, and
tatted an insert while on Tollway Tatters and that
put me in motion after completing my collar/ necklace.
Here is my first completed pen with tatting insert:
Below is the completed tube.
Showing the end.
All pieces ready.

It took some work and adjusting to get the tatting into
the pen chamber.  I first placed the tatting on the ink
tube, but it wouldn't go in, just kept wrinkling the
end of the tatting.

I then just slide the tatting in and had to find something
very thin to help get it fully in place and then added
the ink tube and closed the pen.
Below is a close-up of the tatting.
A very productive Tollway Tatters this month....at least
for me. We had lots of quiet time with lots of
us concentrating on our work!!  There was also plenty
of chatting besides tatting, and a great group too!!
Have a wonderful week everyone and happy tatting!!

I have been tatting, but....

mostly taking care of an 83yr. old.  So tatting
time and other things have set by the side.  I
have gotten "needed" things done.
Here are some crosses I made for 3 friends,
plus and extra:
The first two are sisters.

This next one is a married lady who's hubby got
a coffee mug.

I wanted to empty shuttles so I have another cross.
(cross ends did get sewn in)  ;)

And, years(at the early part of my tatting journey)
I tatted cross earrings for my mother-in-law and my
niece.  Well, I am trying to tat them again and improve
them.  They are ok, but still need work.  I have some
friends who would like some.
That is all the tatting for now.
I have some plastic canvas "name tags" to do.
Have a great week and try to get some tatting in!!!  :)

Early Easter present to me

Years ago I had taught a friend to tat.  She loved it,
but only got far enough to tat rings and then join them.
She tatted lots of "strings of rings" and joined them
around all sorts of things like her lamp shade, her planter,
hung them on her curtain, and just anywhere.
But, sadly, she quit tatting and quit hanging out with
me.  Well, today I had to take several people on an
errand and she joined them, and gave me a bag.
She said she is "purging".  Well, she can purge this
kind of stuff and give it to me again!!!  Marilee's
hand dyed threads, shuttles, and beads!!!
I got my Easter present early!!! :)
Happy tatting everyone!! :)
